cathiesue, you are the artist, so if you want to embroider, applique, hand stitch, machine stitch cute what evers it is your blockI was going to make the star yellow and the background blue. Is that ok? Also has the group ever done appliqué? Drunkards Path is one of my favorite blocks and it can be appliqués or sewn. Also there are many, many arrangement for the blocks. I have a beautiful quilt with these as 6 in blocks. All scraps. Light background with a darker quarter circle. Just a thought.
True, I think it must have been one of the earliest blocks I learned not knowing it was too much for me I thought it was magic how the little bite fit right into the space.Cathiesue, I love Drunkard's Path, especially as it is so versatile, but it is a difficult block. The reason I suggested not doing triangles was to make a nice easy block without worrying about points being chopped off in the seams when we put the blocks together. We should look for a block we all like. After the next one, maybe we should consider an applique block. Maybe we can design one just for us.
Yes I have seen several of them. The jar is a snowball done w/ a rectangle then a couple more rectangles most in the background color and one in the lid color.True, I think it must have been one of the earliest blocks I learned not knowing it was too much for me I thought it was magic how the little bite fit right into the space.![]()
i love a simple attic window where you can fussy cut the center piece. I'll have to look for it but I didi a swap a few years ago with a very simple pattern that was a mason jar...you could fill it with whatever you wanted...fabric i mean. My favorites were food and jelly beans. It was a rectangle not square. Anyone else seen it?
Quote: I made a kids quilt out of the mason jar design a few years ago - the "mason jar" fabric had fabrics with bugs and butterflies on it. It turned out really fun. Not sure where the pattern went, however.
My daughter's first quilt project was an attic windows. She did it in a 4H class and entered it in the county fair. I'll try to get a picture of it and show you how it turned out. It is only a lap quilt but it turned out really nice.True, I think it must have been one of the earliest blocks I learned not knowing it was too much for me I thought it was magic how the little bite fit right into the space.![]()
