We're looking to add a milk cow to the farm. We are considering getting a Jersey. Anyone out there that has a Jersey have any words of wisdom or things to look for when buying one?

Any other breed suggestions?

How much milk do you need, and what do you plan to do with it?

If you are wanting milk for a small family, I would suggest a Dexter instead of a Jersey/Guernsey/Holstein, etc. They produce a smaller quantity of milk due to their small size, and require less space and forage. They are also easier to work with given their size - less intimidating, anyway.
