Fan During the Day in the Coop?

100-105? Way hotter than here. Humidity can make it super uncomfortable but it rarely gets above 95.

I've read that a chicken's normal body temp is around 102-105. That has to make hot weather even harder to bear. To me, it's worth just the peace of mind knowing there's some air moving around, even if it's hot air. I really don't want to worry about heat stroke on top of dealing with other weather related issues.

One thing we did last summer (in addition to the frozen treats), a few times a day we would spray water on the floor of their run to cool off the ground a bit. They seemed to really like that.

I appreciate the tips...frozen treats, fan, wet down the run, mist system...I'll do them all on those hot days. I''ll also make sure they have plenty of shade and drinking water. I've also read that it's good to have water for them to actually get into, so I''ll do that, too. Thanks again.

I use a box fan in the coop. I put it a couple feet off the ground so it doesn't blow directly on them. I use sand for the floor, and it also helps dry it out if it gets too wet from humidity (or if I forget and leave the windows open when it rains).

I have one of those little dual fans sitting in the window. It has an auto turn on feature you can set the temperature for. It works great. I have one side blowing outside air in and one side sucking the inside air out. Get's great air circulation.

We also have the double fan. Works great. It's 83 or 84 in the coop when our chickens go in for the night so that's when we turn ours on.

Best way to change the air in a coop is to have the fan blowing out up high on one side of the coop,
and only one or two other openings down lower on the other side of the coop for fresh air too come in.

I have one of these fans, they're nice.
BUT.... the way it's setup, one out and one in, is only circulating the air right around the fan...won't do much for the rest of the coop
