I trimmed his wings to keep him in with the girls and I trimmed his feathers just bit around his "private" area to assist with breeding... I guess it wouldn't hurt to bring him though... wish I hadn't gone scissor happy on all my birds! Do you know how big of a deal it is to have trimmed feathers... would they get disqualified? I'd really love to show the Javas!
Here is our Bantam Frizzle Cochin Roo

Does anyone know of anyone in the area with sebrights or japanese for sale? My son is going to bring some of our chickens to the show and he is looking for a few more bantams.

If I remember correctly, I'm pretty sure that Dan Dykes, in Brehnam, has sebrights. His email is [email protected]. His birds are absolutely amazing... my son got a gorgeous trio of Black Bantam Cochins from him (one of which won Grand Champion last year).

Remember you don't have to enter birds to enjoy the show....come see all the fancy breeds of chickens compete at the Fancy Feathers 4-H 4th Annual Open Chicken Show. Watch the Cluck-Off contest and the Showmanship class. Enter raffles to win a Kindle or an iPad or a hundred other items. Eat some great food at the Comal County Fairgrounds, April 2nd from 10am to 2pm....Free admission.
I can't believe the show is just a week away... our 4H group has been working really hard and we are all really looking forward to it.
Hope to see many of you there!

I love to go to shows and just walk around and look at chickens.
I have never seen a Cluck off contest, do you know about what time that and Showmanship will happen?
Will everything be in the same building?

Thanks
Kim

The entire show is all in the same building... it's a HUGE barn. I have emailed our club leader and requested time frames for the Youth Showmanship Class and the Cluck Off Contest. I will post those times here as soon as I have them.
