I have a box of Farina sitting in my pantry and I'd like to get rid of it. Before I throw it in the trash, can I feed it to my chicks without grit? Sort of the same question with grits. I know they can be fed grits, but do they need grit? I was assuming not, but I don't really want to assume anything since I really just don't know. I have a chick that doesn't seem to be interested in hard boiled eggs and I noticed it's a bit smaller than everyone else. I am going to pick up some yogurt tomorrow, but I was curious about some things I already have and are going to waste.

Thanks!

They will love the cream of wheat, I would cook it. Yes, they do need grit. Make sure it is chick grit, it's smaller, then sprinkle on their food as you would salt on your food.

They need grit if you're feeding them anything but chick starter. If they get treats like the farina, yes, they need grit. If they never get anything but the chick starter feed, then no.
