My friend went to the Houston Farmer's Market today and couldn't believe it when she saw eggs for sale at $7/dozen! I couldn't believe it either! Those were the non-gmo fed chickens (what I'm feeding), but even the plain old free range chicken eggs were going for upwards of $5/dozen!

And my neighbor recently tried to give me $20 for a bag of cherry tomatoes I gave her from my garden. She thought they were *the best* tomatoes she had ever had and thought $20 was a steal. I just thought they were the same plain old tomatoes that I grow every year, lol! (I didn't take the money, of course!). It's crazy what people will pay for home-grown, *real* food!

It makes me appreciate my little flock and my garden even more. When I want dinner I just wander out there and pick whatever looks good. Guess I didn't realize how good I have it!

Anyway - just thought it was an interesting reality check for myself!!

WOW! That's wild! And a little sad! I wish we could have a better backyard garden but our yard is way too shady. Great for hanging out in but not for growing things!
