I was planning on raising coturnix but my aunt says I would be better off starting with the farrel d?? What is the difference?

Neither have I and when I google them nothing really comes up. I think I will just stick with my original plan and go with the coturnix.

What little I know about quail...and its very very little, so I could be wrong, but I think the pharoah stille coturnix breed, but are considered the "jumbo" size. Meaning they are larger than the other types, but still quite small. Like I said I could be totally wrong, but I believe that is what I was told. Hope I helped...

XLD1 coturnix are just a jumbo pharoah colored coturnix that some farm named XLD1 because it made his birds sound bigger. The problem is after they were for sale for a couple of years people started putting the name on any pharoah coturnix. i bought a bunch of 4 week old "XLD1 jumbos" from a feed store and most of them weighed under 12oz live at 10 weeks and under 5 dressed. My point is this, get your own coturnix in any color you like and breed them for the traits you are looking for ie size, egg size, egg production, etc because unless you get to physically inspect the parentage you really have no idea what birds you are getting anyway.
