Just navigating the many topics but figure id start here. When i was young we had alot of chickens but i never paid attention to their habits, spending most days being chased by rooster! Im living in the country again and enjoy watching the guinea fowl that frequent my yard. Lately ive noticed they venture farther into the wood and today were squatting in the yard as if to lay but no egg seen. Is my yard inviting to them? I mow half and the rest is high grass, from what i read is preferred but they were squatting in the freshly mowed area. These are basically free range with a coop nearby.

The male guinea will usually lie down in one place while the guinea hen works the area around him. They like the short grass for their insect, etc. foraging. They like the tall grass for hiding their nests.
