Fast Maturing Cockerel?

Our 8 week old Lavender Bantam Silkie cockerel has been crowing since he was 5 weeks old when I bought him. He's currently in a flock of 4 until they all get old/big enough to be put with the older flock. Both flocks are separated by a fence so they can see but can't touch.

Is it possible that Spikey Mikey may be a fast maturing cockerel? Should I expect him to start showing normal rooster behavior soon? How long until he starts asserting his dominance over the girls?

I had 3 cockerels start crowing at 5 weeks this spring. One of them started to try and mount the other chicks shortly after he started to crow. He was very annoying and I had to move him in with my meat birds so he would stop trying to rape all the 5 week old chicks.
