Hi ,
im new to BYC and a new duck owner. I have two cross Campbell/Runner Girls . They are still very nervous around me but im sure that will change in time .
I am a complete novice and learning as i go along.
My girls have been with me for 5 days now and i have already fell in love. Every morning i have one egg. im not sure which one is laying but i am concerned about one of my girls. She has a very low and big under belly.
Im not sure if this is the way she should be or there maybe something wrong with her?
I am told they are both about 10 months old. .
If anyone could give me some advice that would be great

Thanks Clint. Today in the garden she laid a soft egg then about 10 minuets later she laid another soft egg. Any advice would be great.

Are you feeding a layer feed it providing oystershell? Sounds like she needs more calcium.

Clint

I am feeding them layer feed that the people on the farm supplied. They are in the garden eating grass and dirt all day. i have ordered some oystershell for them.
Do you think she could have been stressed with the move from the farm to us. I know they crated them for the night before coming here.
Thanks again for your help

It certainly could be stress if the move was in the last couple of weeks. If it's stress, she will probably stop laying for a few weeks until she recovers.

Clint

i think this could be the reason . Maybe now she is becoming a bit more relaxed as she has only been here a week today , she will start laying normally. thanks again
