I have a yellow chick who is very fat... LOL. She has a speck of black on her.I thought she was a Buff Brahma at first, but she hasn't got any fuzz on her legs.

I hatched her from my girls' eggs, so it HAS to be one of the following:

Brahma (can't be this; no leg feathers)
California White (This is what I'm guessing...)
Rhode Island Red
Red Sex Link
Black Australorp (can't possibly be this. The chick is yellow)

And she is crossed with a Cucktoo Maran, he is the father.
I would also like to know the gender if it isn't too early.

Thanks!!

Too young for gender, and breed may be more apparent as it begins to feather out. Repost in a few weeks?

From the chooses, I'm going to say California white. It cannot be a road island red or red sexlink unless it's a roo, and definitely not an Australorp.

Isn't it true that sex link reds are only gender determinate in the first generation? So this second generation chick wouldn't be able to be sexed by color?

This is true--this chick won't be sexable by color. And the offspring of a sex-linked hen isn't considered a sex linked bird.
