I am wanting to breed my Salmon Faverolle hens to Paul Smith Ameracauna roosters to create Favacaunas that lay sage colored eggs. Will it work with the blue gene rooster or would I have better results using Ameracauna hens with a Faverolle rooster?

The genetics are going to be the same either way as far as egg color. The exact shade will depend on what brown egg shell genes the favorelles contribute. Thee are a lot of different genes that contribute to the shade of brown in brown egg layers, that's why we can get so many different shades of brown eggs. A lot of the time the exact shade of brown is not something that breeders concentrate on so you can get some differences. That doesn't have anything to do with the sex of the parent. That will just depend on the individual chicken and what genetics they pass down.
