Hi! I'm a new chicken mommy and new to this group. I got my first 10 in March (all sexed pullets from a farm), and fell in love. Ended up getting 7 more in May. 4 more from farm, and 3 straight run from a home breeder. The straight ones are a Favaucana, Americauna Splash, and Ice Cream Bar. Now my little ones are 8 weeks old, and my Favaucana is REALLY giving me that "boy feeling". Grew double the size of the Splash and ICB that hatched the same time.. Ironically, my husband named him/her Spanky...because it was the tiniest thing and oh so cute like a little bobblehead on 2 toothpicks. Lol. The reasons I'm thinking male is well size for one...but also personality! It is definitely the dominant of the group...very assertive, and not viciously, but does peck them in line from time to time. Then this last week I started seeing greenish tones coming out in feathers...which made me go hmmmmm....The topper Is the crown though! Will post pics of Spanky, and then with the Splash and ICB (same age to compare....i know different breeds, but drastic difference) Not a whole lot of info about Favauracanas out there, so anyone's input is welcomed. (On others too, but feeling pullet with them) Thank you. :)

Looking forward to pictures. Size and behavior are not really reliable indicators. Hybrids can get quite large, and hens can be every bit as bossy as males, some very much "rule the roost" - I have a small Naked Neck hen who bosses around her LF Cochin brother and sisters as if she's twice their size as opposed to half :) Green feathers are not always the indicator either, as properly bred RIR pullets have them (this I know from personal experience).

Thank u for the input! :) I agree. My barnvelder has some sgimmery green, and my black sexlink as well. It was more where the green was coming out of...Plus I know it was bred from a Salmon Faverolle and a Blue Americauna with no green...but definitely doesn't seal the deal. The biggest characteristic that makes me question is the crown. 3 rows! I did post pics...Not sure where they went. Still new on this site, so not quite sure how to work it properly lol. I'll post again so u can see what I mean.
