Faverolles FEVER

Mine is by far the loudest chick of the bunch! (1 RIR, 1 Salmon Faverolles, 1 Buff Orp, and 1 Australorp). She peeps non stop and I think the others are anxious to get outside already and get some space from her.

I just got mine 5 of them from Ideal and lost 3 within the first 24 hrs, I was heart broken, the other too are doing well since I took them out of the brooder with the other chicks that were bigger than them. Turns out that they are a fragile breed and don't ship particularly well, according to Ideal Hatchery. Im hopefully getting more (Hatching eggs) next month from Bantyman!

:celebrate and I can't wait!

I have got to get some of these. They are just too cool. If only I didn't have a gazzilion chicken already. My name is Jimmy and I am a chicken addict.

I ordered 5 from Cackle and lost 1. I was at the farm store to see if their's had come in from Ideal and they came while I was there. Thay had ordered 15 an I purchased I think 6 of those. They didn't have any come in dead and they had Cochins (had to get 4 of those, too!), RIR, and other more common breeds. Two boxes full. Anyway, none of their Faverolles came in dead. Maybe they are more fragile, but so far I haven't had any different luck with those than I have had with any other except for Speckled Sussex. I do have a hard time with those. I am now in the process of letting go of all of my other breeds (I bought 2-3 of as many breeds as I could find w/o ordering at first to see what I wanted to keep) except my SF, dark Cornish, a couple of Cochins, 1 Delaware, 1 Australorp, and about 10 bantams including OEGB and Silkies. I HATE my BR roosters and can't wait until they are filled out enough to go in the freezer along with those 2 gold SL, and 2 white Leghorns. They all go out of their way to hunt down the younger chicks to peck them! I was always afraid that is what the dark Cornish would do but I have found them to be very docile and never offer to bother the younger ones at all!

I'm becoming a big fan of faverolles. I got a standard roo from a BYCer and he is gorgeous and has a funny little personality. I would love to get a hen to go with him as well. Enjoy yours!

I think I will probably have a few extra hens. Have to wait to be sure. What part of Jersey?
