I got a bunch of araucana eggs from my friend. Two of them were born with a tail so I couldn't sell them and I kept them as Easter Eggers. One is 90% faverolles (I don't even know how since there are no faverolles breeders in the area), the other is kind of weird in the head (she only makes one single note noise no other chicken makes, and flies like a ballistic missile - she wasted my husband white coat). Here you can see them happily digging their own grave.

They sound really happy! They are both very pretty girls

I have a terrible imagination for names. Her name is "Little Hen" because she was a runt. The faverolles looking EE is "Faverolles". The roo is "Roo". The dominant buff is "Dominant". And the buff with penciled saddle is "Penciled".

The "defective araucanas" started laying and they both lay brown eggs :hit
I hatched them from perfectly blue eggs, how is that even possible? At worst they should lay green, grey or olive! I'm so bummed. They're too sweet to rehome and all the slots in my flock are now full. My dream of a colorful egg basket is gone.
Well, let's see next year if the legbar man can fix the issue.

Defective? Maybe. But insanely cute -- absolutely! Your girls put a smile on my face this morning.

I understand the disappointment of brown eggs. One of my 2 Easter Eggers lays brown eggs. I wanted to add more color, and this year got two Ameracauna chicks with the expectation of blue eggs. However, it turns out one is a rooster.

BTW, I have a Salmon Faverolles that I adore! They tend to be very sweet birds. I'm glad you're keeping your special girls :)

Little Hen made her first egg and it's blue/green!
Apparently Faverolles makes 2 different shades of eggs. One pink clean with bloom and the other yellowish speckled without bloom. Weird!
In the picture there are the 3 pullet eggs with an elderly hen egg for comparison.
