Faverolles Question... *pics added post #12*

So I picked up my friends.... I'll post pictures... With much research, I found out that the AgMart got them from Ideal here in Texas. All I know is that mine... don't quite look so salmony and white underbellied...... but, they have beards started!

Well, I got my birds! After much undercover work, I have learned that they were hatched mid Feb and they came from Ideal Poultry. After seeing what they "should" look like and what mine "do" look like... seems like we are rather far away from "breed standard." And yes, I know hatcheries hatch for production and not standard, but I was sort of hoping they would look a little more like they should. So... here they are...

Bird C: This is the one that I THINK looks closest to what it should

Bird E: The Roo. Not sure what a roo should look like at this age

So, my knowledgeable Faverolle friends.. what do you think?

The color in Bird A in the chest bothers me but some may molt out. Bird C looks nice as far as color and the Muff/ Beard on B seems pretty good. All in all not horrible and I know horrible. I bought some for way to much money and they were just horrible. Your rooster will not look like much for 4 to 6 weeks. They are so gawky looking until the adult feathers come in then watch out, they will know your socks off. Faverolle Roos are the best roosters around a beautiful as well.

Wow! They remind me a bit like the Mahogany Faverolles but too much mottling going on. I think these birds are ugly but dont take offense. If they got the sweet laid back personality, then it would not be so bad!

My faverolle I got from Ideal was much better than the birds you got (nothing against your girls and boy, i promise

) That seems strange to me?

Here is a picture of her. There is some black bleedthrough but she never looked like those.
And I know, the poor things beard is gone, but it got pecked off by my old mean hens.....stupid production RIR......

I love her so much, I think one day I might get some nice "SQ" birds or chicks. I just love her to bits!

Well, I got the better of the birds, so I guess I won more than the gal I got them from. Not too bad considering they were a trade-off for babysitting her flock while she is out of town.
