Poor little Shelby almost died from a case of crookneck after an assault by my big BO. After some hospital time and hand feeding she is back on track, but is much darker than my other Faverolles (darker than the photo indicates)

She is 4 1/2 weeks, and her sister is 3 1/2 weeks, both from Mypetchicken/ Meyers. Her wing and back feathers are more mahogany as compared to the salmon/grey of the younger one. Her chest feathers are also darker, but not black.

Is this variation just typical of hatchery Faverolles, or do I have a roo, or should I just be patient?

Thanks!

The older has been slower to feather for sure. Of course she was sick for a few days, and I thought that might have set her feather growth back.

Of course haven't I read that roos feather more slowly as well?
