I am feeling absolutely overwhelmed right now trying to pick an “all flock” feed for my mixed age flock of birds. I talked to a Kalmbach rep and walked away feeling even more confused than I was before! I have 5 birds that are into their first month of laying, and 7 pullets that are many weeks away from starting to lay yet. I have oyster shells available, and other than the odd egg here or there, things have been going smoothly for the laying girls. I am currently feeding Chickhouse Reserve, but I want to switch to something different as my birds tend to pick out the veggie bits they like and leave the rest on the ground.

What is everyone’s favorite “all flock” feed? I have Kalmbach and Purina readily available along with anything I can order on Chewy, which doesn’t look like much outside of more Kalmbach options.

I came on here to ask a similar question. I've been using Country Companion All Flock pellets for a few years and am happy with it.... except that the price keeps climbing higher.

I saw a similar feed at another store: Nutrena Naturewise Flockshield All Flock pellets that costs less so I was considering switching to that.

They are both 20% protein. Was curious if anyone had thoughts on these.

The protein thing has my head spinning.

I purchased Nutrena all flock, and my girls at least seem to prefer it to Kalmbach. That's just my flock though. Honestly I just bought it because the mill date was the freshest, but I think we'll be sticking with it for the foreseeable future. I swear it smells like pizza sauce herbs 😄

The Kalmbach chick feed also smells like pizza sauce herbs!

Kalmbach Chickhouse Reserve fermented (in the morning) and preparing to surrender and provide Kalmbach 20% Flock Maker in pellet form as the available dry supplement. Between the total knee replacement and the arrival of two new pullets in two weeks, I’m simplifying, at least for now.
