Alright so my favorite bird. A 3 month old silkie roo. My only one I paid a lot to get shipped here is dying.

He was fine this morning. Now he is lethargic, puffed up, not eating drinking.

Starting a few months back I had some chicks get Cocci and die off. Then everyonce in a while my young flock will catch it (I believe) a one of the youngest ones will die, with no Symtons, except acting tired only about an hour before death.

I instantly treat with sulmet and lose no more. So I suspect it's cocci.

Well I went to feed for afternoon and he is laying down and not moving. Crap. I rush him inside and make him some sulmet water. He won't drink so I dip his beak, and give him some in an eye dropped.

I also gave him a very very little bit of yougert that he would take when I smeared it on his beak.

Is it too late to save him? Is there anything else I can do.

I will be devestated if I lose him. Completely and udderly devestated. My entire dream of a white silkie breeding flock will be gone. He is my favorite and a pet. And I love him dealy. Help

Yikes! I'm so sorry. I don't have advice but I'm curious - are you using medicated chick crumbles?

Weird. He has perked up. He is walking around, and pacing the cage wanting out. He is still puffed up though.

He seemed so near death..... Really he did. But I don't think they recover that quickly from Cocci.

My guess is he was overheated.

But can a bird get over heated and nearly die in only like 85-90 degree weather if it's been like 70-80 lately?

I hope I didn't hurt him with the Sulmet I made him drink.

I am so puzzled. He was about to die on me. He still doesn't seem right though.

I will keep him in the house and watch him for a while.

I am so glad he looks better. I was so worried I was almost in tears.

Anyone have any guesses on what happened?

I do use medicated crumbles. It is the only choice around here as it's all they sell.

Also he just pooped and it was not bloody. hmmm

I'm confuzed.

I would like to know why everyonce in a while some of my 2 month old birds just die off with no warning. I've buried like 4 in the past few weeks.

ETA: Wow! My posts are full of spelling mistakes. Sorry. I'm just like freaking out. Try to overlook them.

Eek.

He has calmed down now. And is looking worse again. Not as bad though.

He is standing instead of laying down.

What can I do, if anything?

And could it be something besides Cocci. I have no clue what?

What is the difference of Corrid and Sulmet? I wonder which feed stores would carry it.

Even if I order it, I don't think it would get here to save my little guy.

I'm still holding out hope that he will live.

I rescued a brahma that I thought was death from a dog like a week ago. And it was in shock and everything, and it lived.
