Favorite Chicken Breed?

Australorps. Just raised my first flock of 5 black and 5 splash. all very friendly and lay good too.

Was hoping to get some Cuckoo Marans this year.
Do you have a recommended hatchery?

I was referring to the comment by outgoing orpington where every chicken seems to be their favorite breed.

I really like Meyer Hatchery- I love their customer service, and they seem to be very reliable- I have ordered from them three times.

I also vote for EEs. We have two green eggers who lay as regularly as our white leghorns.

EE for laying the best but mine all have flighty personalities. Leghorn, sapphire gem, australorp all good layers with better personalities. Maran & wyandotte have been suuuuuper broody for me. Just my experiences, all my birds come from Hoovers.

I always have a large variety of breeds. I buy for a colorful flock. Some of my most friendly over the years have been Easter eggers, barred rock and some barnyard mixes. My newest most friendly is this little Cream Brabanter. She runs up to me each time I go out asking to be picked up and held. She is also obsessed with my muck boots that have chickens on them. Who can resist this face! Not sure of her laying abilities yet. She is young.
