i was just painting using water-thinning oils holding my favorite chicken, Tiny on my lap. just as i was thinking that i should be careful to keep the paint away from her, she pecked
he.gif
blue paint was all over her beak. i wiped of every bit i could get then opened her beak. her entire mouth was blue also. i cleaned the best i could, but the poor girl also has a folded under toe, ine eye with cataracts, one eye that was pecked and now she keeps it closed (that's the reason she's inside in the first place) and now this. i found out that the paint is non-toxic (it's Reeves water-thinning oil paint), but could it still harm her? she is my favorite hen and i don't know how i'd live with myself if i killed her. if you have any advice, please post it, and if not please please please just pray for her

I am not really sure about paint, but one of my chickens ate some fertilizer and was fine. You did the right thing by cleaning her beak though.

It does not sound like she ate much? Cleaning her beak, offering water are first measures. I would watch to make sure she can open her beak OK and eat/drink. Maybe give her a little bread soaked in olive oil, offer some moistened food. As long as the paint does not cause her to have a problem opening her mouth and she is eating I'd think she should be fine. The paint should not be toxic. Good Luck!!! Hope she is OK

If it were my pet I'd take her to a spot where you can keep an eye on her. I doubt it'll hurt her, but it'll make you feel better watching her be annoyed at you pampering her
