Yes, yes, yes. I know. There's so many music genre polls and discussions out there so obviously I had to join the trend!
Alright, what's your favorite music genre. Go buckwild on here ya'll. I only have one rule. NO JUDGEMENT WHATSOEVER. This is a fun, get-to-know you discussion. Who knows? Maybe you'll even make a friend. To get the discussion started, I'll go first. I personally love older country. I'm talking 90s to 2019s, and a little bit of newer country. My favorite artists are Chase Mattthew, Cole Swindell, Shania Twain, George Strait, Brim, Thomas Rhett, and Dustin Lynch.
Like I said, go buckwild but BE RESPECTFUL.

All of them? 😅 There's artists I like in every genre. If I had to pick a favorite... I guess I listen to rock (classic, alternative, hair bands, j-rock) and instrumental jazz the most. But I can also go on R&B kicks... it's hard to choose!

You 100% don't have to choose a favorite genre. I totally understand. That's like asking me to pick which part of the Rodeo is my favorite. Do you have a favorite artist and a song recommendation?

70s:
Dan Fogelberg (The Innocent Age album was his best, IMO) Leader of the Band was about his dad, and Dan said in an interview if he could have only written one song, it would have been that one.

Carole King (Fantasy was her best, IMO, but Tapestry was excellent too) Tapestry put her on the map with It's Too Late, You've Got A Friend, and Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow.

Janis Ian: The only hit she had was At Seventeen, which is too bad. Her albums Between the Lines, and Aftertones, both had a lot of great songs.

Queen: Bohemian Rhapsody and many others, but that's their best known, and it's excellent.
Led Zeppelin: Stairway to Heaven (only song I like by them, but it's a classic)

The Eagles: the album One of These Nights made them a very successful group in rock as well as the country audience they had. Hotel California (song and album) cemented their fame. All members are/were excellent, talented musicians.

Kansas: A great group of musicians; their best known albums are Leftoverture and Point of Know Return.

Celtic: We have a couple of most favorite bands: Crossbow and Ironwood. Websites: xbowmusic.com and ironwoodband.com
There are lots of other bands we like too. Most of the Celtic groups we listen to do a lot of the traditional Celtic tunes as well as some of their own music.

Classical: My favorite piece of music is Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. (Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra is playing it next season. Yeah, I'm the woman who jumps up at the end, clapping my hands off, and saying, "Yay, Beethoven!" because I can't whistle.)
Other big favorites: Tchaikovsky's 4th and 5th Symphonies, Brahms' 1st and 4th Symphonies, and too many other great pieces to list. I like the Romantic period the best, but also the Classical and Baroque periods too.

Well, how could I have left out these groups?

Crosby, Stills, and Nash
Suite: Judy Blue Eyes is the song that most people know and love. So many others! Their sound was instantly recognizable.

The Carpenters
We've Only Just Begun, Close to You, Sing, and many more. Karen Carpenter had one of the best voices in the 70s; let's hear it for contraltos!!!

Simon and Garfunkel
Sounds of Silence, Bridge Over Troubled Water, America, Mrs. Robinson; many others.

Carly Simon
You're So Vain, Anticipation (used in a ketchup commercial of all things!), Coming Around Again was one of my favorites.

James Taylor
He also made a hit out of You've Got A Friend. Fire And Rain was his big uber hit that put him on everyone's map.

I'm sure I'll think of more.
