Ok everyone. I thought I would start this one to give everyone a chance to tell their favorite poultry breed and why. Have a ball.

Gold Links, Silkies, Barred Plymouth Rocks, White Leghorns

Gold LInks:
very cold/heat hardy
lay large eggs
We have seven and get at least 7 eggs a day from them sometimes one of them will lay two eggs.
We have some Jumbo eggs from them also.
We get lots of double yolked eggs too!
One thing I don't like about them is they can sometimes be a little mean to other hens because of their Rhode Island Red genetics. Other than that I would say these are the best layer breeds I've seen.

Barred Plymouth Rocks:
I love that they are striped they remind me of skunks (that's why we named one that)
some people say they are flighty and we have one that is a bit flighty but the others are very content..
These are also good layers but we had one die from sour crop.

Silkies:
They are so fluffy! We have four white ones and hope to get some black ones or some kind of other color at some point. (Maybe soon) these guys lay nice small eggs.
But they are hard to tell the hens and roosters apart. they make nice pets or show chickens.

White Leghorns:
honestly I just like them for their looks. I hate that you can't tell them apart and since we got them when they were 2 years old we have no idea if all White Leghorns are flighty or if it's just these ones. I'm a fan of brown eggs but I'll eat any kind of egg. The White Leghorns we got stopped laying at age 3 and are mainly pets now. They laid medium-large eggs.

I think those are all my favorites now

Once I would have said Rhode island reds but 6 months ago I was gave american game chickens and I gotta say they are my favorite now they are so loveable and cluck at me every time that I am in my coop

Good job ChickenLover200. Very descriptive. May help some newbies like me decide which breed is right for them. Some good choices also. Thanks.

So far we have 5 black Aussies, 1 Rhode island red, 3 Barred Rocks, 1 Isa Brown, 3 Welsummers, 1 Red Pyle OEGB, 2 Golden Sebrights, 1 Silver Sebright and 2 Grey OEGB, 2 Rouens, 2 Pekins, 1 Khaki Campbells and 2 Indian Runners and I'll tell ya it would be hard to pick a favorite.
