Our favorites probably the Australop, Golden laced Wyandottes and the sex-links. By the way our glw chicks are thriving. Even grandma Wyandotte took the chicks to show them what to do. She is like a mother to them. She walks with them in the run and got them to perch on the laying board instead of laying in the straw. Not sure if the Wellsummers we have is a favorite. We just decided to try this breed in 2019.

In no particular order: Isa browns great egg layers very hardy. Silkies funny looking an cute an weird. Australian game bird or Colonial very tough and hardcore. Malays like the appearance, Cochins appearance, all my birds because they are my friends, consists of Isa brown Barnevelder australorps X NH Leghorn X NH and other mix breeds of all of those breeds.

@Tonyroo those Swedish flowers are awesome looking forgot about them but IV only ever seen them once before and that was on this website maybe it was Ur birds idk. But yeah cool.

So far my favorites are my Ameraucanas and my Orps and Silkies. The Ameraucanas are the definite faves though. They are sweet, friendly, love to cuddle, and are full of personality! My Orps are my second faves because they’re calm, beautiful, and my rooster is chatty and such a good boy. The silkies are just characters and my kids adore them and they are SO patient with the kids. I also have a blue copper marans that is very very chatty and visits me daily and a Black Laced Red Wyandotte (poor red, but not really gold) that is so pretty but not as friendly. She likes to sit with me and tolerates a couple of pets, but no cuddling no hugs and no carrying her. I do love all my chickens though…they all have wonderful character and personality! So hard choosing, but Fluff and Puff are my babies!

Yes, always great to love your chickens and it’s nice when your chickens happen to have an amazing personality, it makes you love them even more!

Swedish Flower hen is hands down one of the best. There colorful, easy birds to manage, consistent egg layers and human friendly.

Haha those two breeds the Australorp and Wyandotte’s are one of my favourite breeds (I’d say favourite but I also love other breeds like Plymouth, Silkies, etc)

Nice hens! I will PM you some info on where you can get some good, healthy, non-hatchery breeding stock.

My silver grey Dorkings came from two places--two from a BYC friend on my state's chat thread, and two from a startup hatchery that was located very close to me but failed. I bought a bunch of chicks from that hatchery, but they were pretty sick and only two survived. The hatchery closed right after I got my chicks.

I have 4 Dorkings total, all girls. The feisty little hen is called Mari. I drove down to Maricopa to get her from the BYC friend, so she is Mari from Maricopa. The other one that she gave me is Dora the Dorking. Yeah, not much imagination.

The other week Mari and the rooster (a Leghorn) got into it. She was squawking and spreading her wings at him. I came back a few hours later and she had some peck marks on her comb and was a lot quieter. My guess is he'd finally had enough of her antics after weeks of this. He's actually a sweet roo, and will walk over on the perch to get his feathers stroked. Not aggressive at all.

Daffodil and Buttercup, the other two Dorkings, are the ones that will rush the gate. Sometimes Mari will come toward me at the gate with her wings out and squawk at me, but I just spread my arms and squawk back and she usually turns around in a hurry. It's the other two that will try to get out.

Those one's that you got from me I had bought from another lady who said that she got them as day old chick's from Murry McMurry's hatchery.

Yes, I remember. And Dora and Mari are doing great, thanks! I was pointing her toward some people on Facebook who breed to the SOP and sell chickens in limited amounts. Big Ben seems to have quieted Mari down and taken over as ruler of the coop.

I absolutely love the Light Brahma, as I find it a beautiful bird to look at. Though my two are hefty eaters in return. I have found my Dominique to be the tamest, and calmest of the four I own despite my initial believe the brahma's would be the jewels of the flock.
