I thought a cool topic to discuss would be your flock's favourite treats.
I know that chickens love mostly all treats- but I'm looking for flock favourites!
I'm talking about treats that the whole flock gathers around and enjoys together.
I'm talking about treats that make your chickens run to you!

A few of the best treats for my flock are:
  • Lettuce
  • Chick crumb mixed with water
  • Pasta
That's only a few, they love anthing they can get!

Their food wetted and made into a mash. That's my #1 go to for a treat. They love it, and it uses up fines that they ignore in the bottom of the feeder. Sometimes I dress it up with a little something else.

This time of year, Japanese Beetles are given every day. Protein, free, and pest eradication, all in one. :)

I give them a bucket of garden weeds to scratch around in and play with 3-4 times a week.

If/when it's really hot, I'll give them a slice of watermelon or something else cold.

During the summer I give them Scratch Grains scattered around their pen mid-morning.

I also give them a wet mash made with crumble feed and cold water early afternoon in a shady spot.

My chickens of laying age get to Free Range an hour before sunset daily to pick their own greens, catch bugs and dig for grubs.

Only one thing is universally loved here.
It will start fights.
It will get me bitten.
It will get me mugged.
Nobody is immune, old and young male and female.
It is truly one of those things even if I've bought enough for the entire flock it isn't enough.
Discovered purely by accident when my little cockrel Jerry who is now a rooster stole one out of my hand while I was letting the new chicks forage.
This is now a rare treat and I keep a bag as a irresistible chicken whistle in case of emergency.
