My chickens have had some very dry, peeling skin, mostly on their combs and face. I was thinking it may be favus, though it wasn't so much white spots. I tried Monistat 7 for weeks with no change. I tried coconut oil, it helped some. I am now trying Vaseline. I read about using iodine but using it that close to eyeballs makes me nervous. What have you all used to successfully treat favus? Have your chickens ever had dry skin and how did you treat it?

What's your weather been like?
Here are two of them. The skin is just very flaky.
We are on the southeast coast, so very humid and hot.

I haven’t dealt with a chicken who had the peeling seen here. Had to know if it is fungal (favus,) allergic or eczema, scaly face mites, or what exactly. I would probably take a small wash cloth and try to wash any loose scales off with warm dandruff shampoo soapy water. Then coat with some coconut oil, and repeat daily for a few days. Neutrogena T/Gel shampoo or other pine tar shampoo might be helpful and soothing. Head and Shoulders is pretty common as well.
