FCR calculation

Is FCR calculated on live weight or dress weight. I am trying to figure out how much a run of meat birds are going to cost and it is making a big difference in the feed needed if FCR is on live weight vs. dressed weight.

Feed Conversion Ratios are calculated as Feed:Gain. The gain is typically live weight and does not take into consideration any feed wastage so it is actually Feed Disappearance:Gain.

For most broilers taken to 6 lb the FCR will be between 2 and 2.5, depending on housing and any stresses added to the birds.
