so, I have paired a white button and a wild blue with a red tail(I was pretty sure the red vent ment male) and the white acted like a female. so I paired them, I gave them to a dear friend, and no eggs they are 3 months old now and all the others laid eggs. I was at her house and the white(I thought was a female) started breeding the Blue wild with red tail( I thought was a male) I am wondering if it is possible for a female to have red vent feathers? also they snuggle and the white makes a male call. the one I thought was a male also seems to be bigger and holds its head lower, and the white I thought was a female hold its head high. I am no expert, but I do have a pair and it seems that a female has bright red vent and tail feathers. thaks for your time:thumbsup

If the white is breeding the blue, then most likely both are male. I have seen a picture of a female that had ONE red feather - and that wasn't in the vent area. So I'm going to say no, it's not possible for a female to have a genuinely rust red vent area. Also, since you call the bird 'blue' I assume it has gray/blue sides? This color is also only found in males.

As long as the blue color is there - it's very obvious in the head of the bird in the picture - it's male.
To give you an idea if the difference between male and female blueface, here is a picture of a couple of my chicks. They are probably around 6 weeks old in the picture, so the male is not fully colored yet but you can still tell he has a blue color that the female doesn't.
Don't pay too much attention to the difference in chest markings between the two - not all blueface females have the distinct markings of the one in this picture. Male in front, female in background:

Quite often, two males can live happily together when there are no females around. So if your friend doesn't have her head set on eggs and/or chicks, it might not be necessary to do anything at all.
If your friend does want eggs or chicks, maybe she can swap one of the birds for a female/buy a female and sell a male?

Thanks! I thing she was wanting to raise them though, the only problem is there is no one else around here that sells them. that was the reason I had to ship eggs here from Florida and incubate them myself:he
