Genetics, you wanna talk genetics. My charcoal white eye and my India blue split to charcoal gave me 4 whites, 3 charcoals 2 pieds and 3 india blues. Deerman said he never got that from his charcoal before, but because of the white in both you can.

My 1,,my 1 and only hatched chick from my Charcoal pen this year looks 100% IB,,,Mother was a b/s split to Charcoal,,had a replica of the father bird I own that pipped,and I did the rest for it,,took entire top half of the shell off in 8 hours and left the chick sit in the bottom cause I wasn't sure if it had resorbed the yolk yet,,and thats as far as that chick went,,never had enough energy to make a slight push to get out,,died after about 28 hrs from pipping,,it was a beautiful pied looking charcoal colored chick too,,and of course the yolk had been all absorbed,could have just taken the chick out completely,,but I'm sure it wouldn't have made it since it didn't have the energy to push itself outta 1/2 the shell.
Who's got UGLY PEA pics? Or is my old Thang bird too ugly to compare too??

I hatched only 1 chick so far, he was my test the fertility egg LOL. The rest of the eggs I sold on Ebay and I just put the last 2 charcoal eggs into the incubator just now. So they should hatch end of month. The chick that hatched is a pied and looks IB but I am waiting to see if he turns grey, it's still too soon. My 3 charcoal last year looked IB then started to turn grey around 3 months old. Now they are all grey in color and getting adult colors now. 2 hen and a boy
