Feather Challenged- Not Postcard quality pea pics.

My goodness, those poor babies look like they have almost seen death. I am so glad they are being cared for now and have a chance for a great life - bless you Zazouse for taking them under your wing!

I need to add some more "uglies" here. Noticed tonight Opie,UPS and Majik are all starting to grow new tail feathers in.This is my first witnessing of the feather growth and progression but they all appear to first grow a "shoot" with the very end "T" appearing from the beginning. Two of these males have all kinds of short blood rich sprouts coming in and 1 still has fluffy goose down feathers on top of the back.

We've got TONS of Master P ugliness here,,especially in the Wild Thang pen,,the more I look at him,the more I wonder if I did,or did not help him out of the shell. We're doing the every other day feeding rotation now here since theres no eggs to collect each night.Camera needs to go with me Thursday nite I guess.Anyone still getting eggs? My BSSP pen is still laying,,11 eggs in their pen from the past 4 days,,they are like Leghorns.

Doesn't appear the move phased the BSSP peas for too long.

We are still getting eggs here too.
A BSSP hen in the overflow pen is trying to set up another nest. She is one sweet little peahen who really likes to sit.

Bigcreek,,the BSSP pen is still laying so that proves they love their new home at the Palace.I don't make "pets" out of any of the peas here but Pipi is changing my atitude towards that somewhat. She has voluntarily flown and stayed on my shoulder and forearm WITHOUT having any treats with me.I first got her to do this by tapping on my outstreched arm with bread in my other hand and calling her.Roadtrip will fly to the perch and get that goofy cross eyed-head cocked sideways and look as he carefully chooses where to peck at the slice of bread. The quitter syndrome with their eggs I think I cured.I seriously think Roadtrip could easily handle 5-6 hens and he may find a dark pied,,silver pied, and another BSSP hen added with him next year.the dark and silver pieds was with Kingsford this year and that was a total waste.

I call these little ones sadness, i will post their story soon, the most pittiful looking babies i ever seen, but they are on the mend and doing well. And i now have my white male, i know it has to be a male just by it's behavior but i banded it just to make sure i would know it from the others if i got it wrong.

here they are now after 3 weeks they are looking really good, lots of feather growth.
