i have a cochin chick that was born tuesday and used to have the adorable fuzzy wings, legs, and feet. and now hes chewed on them so much that all you can see is the hard beginning of the feathers, i think its called the quill(?). i thought it was the jersy giant chick i had in there with him that was doing it to him so i seperated them and then this mornin his feet were twice as bad. i dont think that it is time for him to get feathers yet but i may be wrong. but i have sat here and watched him chew on his wings, legs, and feet. is there a reason for this? is it going to kill him? anything i can do to make his stop? or should i just leave him alone?

Yup, it's what they do.... most of the down isn't getting eaten... it's becoming DUST!

You're a good lil' mama for worrying, although you don't have to!
