Has anyone ever had this before? It appears that the casing on the developing feathers(dont know if there is a name for it)is not breaking, or they are not preening it off. It doesn' seem to be drying out and coming off, so the feather can expand. These are some black and blue copper marans that I purchased from a local breeder. It' mostly on the black coppers. Any explanations or help would be greatly appreciated. They are approximately 1 months old.

Some chicks just have longer pin feathers than others. They look gangly and awkward right now, but should develop into a perfectly normal looking bird.
I sure hope so. I've had chickens for many years, off and on, and this is a first. Never had Marans, so I wasn't sure if this was breed specific or not.
