We just bought a 40-pound bag of Feather Fixer to help them get thru molting faster and better AND we discovered that it has mite fighter in it!
We had no idea it had that but their online video explains it and exactly HOW it works....pretty neat stuff!

After they are normal again in the spring, we'll switch back to Purina Poultry Feed (pellets) with Omega3 - they like that and lay great eggs on it too!

Hope this helps someone new to this out there like me!

It's a nice product, but I don't understand the 'Mite Fighter' part of the label. I looked on their website today, and nothing came up about that label claim. I use Flock Raiser, 20% protein, with slightly less fat, and then oyster shell on the side, for my flock all year. It's another choice and works well for me. Mary

That seems odd to me! Mites are external not internal so not sure how the Mite Fighter part of that feed works? Does it make the chicken less desirable to mites? If so, what exactly is in it that would do that?

From what I've read it's in the poop. It makes the vent area inhospitable to mites. The favorite hangout for mites. GC

Ok, thanks! I was under the impression mites like to be all over the chicken; on its skin, legs and bum! Luckily, I haven't had to deal with them yet so I'm still learning.

I don't understand how the natural mite treatment works. We have flea/tic pills from our vet for our dogs. It's digested, not trans dermal.
In guessing before this thread I believed the mites would not appreciate the taste of the chickens blood or sweat because of the ingredient in the so called mite fighting feed. I don't have a clue how that aspect works or if in fact is working, but my egg production is at an all time high.
:thumbsup

So I'm guessing, but did you get 50% more eggs and 50% less mites? :ya. GC
We actually started using it after a small mite infestation we corrected. We wanted to speed up feather recovery because here in Florida we are in the peak of our mosquito season. Some of our ladies were bare skin. Some from Rooster damage. Some feather repair has been noticed but still to soon for full recovery.
Bare naked ladies.. Not the music group that does the theme song to The Big Bang Theory on tv! :lau
