Feather follicle or something else?

Miss Lucille is a bantam Cochin frizzle. She is almost a year old and has been very steady laying eggs. They’ve been clean until today. She laid a bloody one (sorry washed it before thinking of a pic). Wasn’t smears, was wet “liquid” blood. With a blob of soft poop. She’s been laying clean eggs for a while. Egg was smooth and proper. I checked for prolapse(none whew) and noticed a small red lump on her rump. Is it a plugged feather follicle or something else? Didn’t feel anything else stuck up in there. Not sure if there can be two eggs at once. Yes, we have since cleaned her poopy butt.

Looks like an ingrown feather follicle. Take a sharp blade and just nick it across the "dot" in the center to release the shaft from its confinement. It should pop out. If it doesn't, insert a toothpick or a sharp point of the blade and poke under it to encourage it to pop up. Then wipe with alcohol or Betadine.

Thanks. I think Lucille is going to give me a wide berth after this.
