Feather footed bantam needs trim

Can I trim the feathers off my bantams feet? He is about 3 months old and seems to be having a little trouble walking. Can this be done without any problems to him and if so, How do I go about it?

Yes, you can trim any feathers you wish. Just be sure they are fully formed and don't have a thicker than normal "stalk" - that would be a blood feather, one that isn't finished growing yet and has blood in it. Just don't make them so short they look like porcupine quills.

How can I tell if they are finished growing?
