Feather loss and slow to retun ?

Hi have a RI Red that I thought loss feathers due to the stress of her move to us. She is 1 and we got her in April. She still looks terrible. She lost a lot of feathers on her chest and head behing comb. Her chest feathers seem to be growing back, but oh so slowly. Is this common. She is so pathetic looking.

Maybe she was molting. The feathers do take quite awhile to grow back.

Hens need extra protein to grow feathers back ( feathers are basically a protein based tissue)
Yogurt is great for a boost. Feed toward evening or very early morning, never in the heated part of the day. Good Luck.

Feathers usually take a minimum of 6 weeks to grow back so it may be a little bit before the feathers are filled in.

We are out of yogurt ATM so am frementing some Kefir for her.
