Feather loss, only quils remaining?

Apologies for only replying now to your post, @Granny Hatchet. We've been on school holidays and I've let things slide! Interesting that your Australorps have the exact same bald pattern. My girl has always been a broody thing, and has plucked her chest bald before, so maybe this is just more of the same. Maybe it's an Australorp thing ... poor bald girls!

*UPDATE*

This is the little frizzle hen today (second from left) ~

After a good molt she has grown some fabulous new feathers back :yiipchick

Can anyone help me with this chicken? She's missing feathers on the sides of her head and neck. It's like she has a Mohawk now lol. Any idea what it could be?

Is she due to molt soon? I think I can see some red on her skin where the feathers are missing so she could be been feather pecked by other flock members.
Have you seen any of this behaivour?

I think it looks red because of the lighting. It doesn't look red in person. I've never seen the other chickens peck her and she's not the only one with the feather loss. One of my other ameracaunas is missing feathers too.

She might be molting soon. She was around 19 weeks when I got her so it will be her first molt. She's around 18 months old now. And I noticed the feather loss around 2 months ago. Other than that she's fine. She eats, drinks, and lays eggs regularly.

It could just be that molt is due. My hen that I originally posted about in this thread is looking very ratty again :( Not as bad as last year but ratty still. She is frizzle though which I think makes things look even worse, my other frizzle is the same too and looks even more ratty. She is due her first adult molt soon too.
I just can't wait until they look better with some new feathers :pop
