I am a new flock owner and I have 8 pullets - all sexlinks that are 10 months old, that I raised from chicks. One of my pullets starting pulling out her feathers under her wings, at the top of her legs on both sides. I noticed that she was doing this while preening herself. Now, all but 2 of my pullets have these bald spots in the same places. I have checked for lice and mites on all of them. Their vents are clean, I have checked all their wings and belly's and don't see any critters roaming around. They are all still laying, I got 8 eggs today.

I feed them the Nutrena Naturwise layer feed 16% crumble, they get a little kale, or other greens in the morning, a handful of mealworms around 12:00 and then I put out some scratch with BOSS in the evenings before they go in the coop at night.

I have exhausted all efforts looking up what could be the cause of this, and just can't figure out what the problem is. Does anyone have any insight into this? My girls have always been very healthy. They act normal, take dust baths almost daily and are quite content. They have a large coop, a large run and plenty of boredom busters throughout their run.

Spray with a bitter taste deterrent and offer more protein
(They will love you for some meat scraps)
Hang up some shucked fresh corn or greens to occupy they boredom
Calcium is required if they are laying (you can crush egg shells and give to them)

There are some microscopic mites that might be the issue here. Check w/ @chickengeorgeto. I believe they may be called feather shaft mites. The fact that more than one bird is doing this leads me to think that you have a mite infestation, even if you don't see the culprits.
Yikes! I thought if they had mites, their egg production would decrease. This is not the case with my girls.
