feather picking question

i think my ameraucanas are picking each others beard feathers out and i want to know how i can prevent this and how long will it take for them to grow back their beards?

i want to take them to a show in april will they be ready in time?

Are you by chance feeding them any "messy" foods such as yogurt, oatmeal, etc...?

one thing that helped my chickens is peepers

This keeps them from pecking each other and it saved my flock and all the feathers grew back. I was able to take them off after a few months. I also made a wire basket I put cabbage in and they peck at that as a treat and not at each other. I hope that helps

(actually, after seeing some wonderful BYC sicko who glued goggly eyes to his hens' peepers, I HAD to give them a try too... they make pinless peepers so you don't have to send the pin all the way through their noses. Alas, funnylookin as they were, it gave my girls the initiative to learn tai chi so they could find feathers to eat by soft vision and feather energy - they were still bald, but they could balance on their second toe for a really long time)

Greencastle ducks - don't let that sway you - mine had an advanced case of the ill - peepers, Rooster Booster products, bumping up protein... all of those things work well.
