I am not sure this is exactly a problem but figured I would get others to weigh in. I have 25 8-week old Rhode Island White pullets. I noticed on one of them it seems to be having a problem feathering out. All of the others are feathered out everywhere except for a few bare spots when you lift their wings and have been for close to 2 weeks. I thought at first maybe this one was getting picked on but I have watched it over the last week and have noticed no bullying/pecking and also no progress on its bare spots. This chick eats and drinks fine and is otherwise normal and healthy.

I would remove her, you don’t usually witness pecking since it seems to mostly happen at night .

I’ve made a circle with hardware cloth , give her food and water and see if the feathers grow , keep her in with the others .... I’ve never seen that much feather loss

Removing her will also ensure she’s getting enough food , looks crowded in there .

I guess I will remove her but I hate to because it is always a pain to reintroduce one. I am not sure it is actually feather loss. Tonight I picked this one up and it looks like the bare areas are actually covered by pin feathers with small white feathers poking out the ends. Looks pretty normal for a pin feather but for some reason these feathers didn't finish growing.

I feed game bird feed free choice at two differnt locations so I am pretty sure nutrition is not an issue.

I don't have any better photos at the moment but I am pretty sure it is a pullet. I ordered 2 roosters of this breed and already have them seperated from this group. They both feathered out close to the others and have much more prominent combs than the one in question.
