I read a post that sunflower seeds will help with feather production. After I lost 3 hens to oppossoms I only had one hen left, a Speckled Sussex, Speckles, I went back to buy another hen so Speckles wasn't alone but the only ones they had left that were close in age were pretty well picked over. I got an Ameraucana that I named Goldie but her poor little butt looked horrible, she only had about 5 or 6 feathers sticking out. I have had her about 2 weeks and her feathers are starting to grow out but I was wondering if there was anything else I could do to aid her in helping her feathers grow out quicker.

hi protein feeds will help.

I feed all my critters kelp meal. It gives them a very healthy, shiny coat (fur, hair and feathers)

Kelp Meal? Haven't heard of that before. Can you give me more information about it? I guess I got lucky that I got her when I did because from what I have read if she had already molted she would have to wait until she molted again before her feathers would come in. She must not have molted yet because her feathers are growning. There about 1 1/2" long at this point so I would like to do what I can to help her. I do keep black sunflower seeds out for them. Thanks for the help!
