So i have 7 brown quail and i believe i can tell the sex by now, they are about 3 weeks and some old, but i am not an expert on this area of sexing birds so i was hoping to get some help.

So to me the first 3 look like males and im leaning towards females on the next 4, the 4th one im like 99.9% sure female, the last 3 have a little bit of coloring on the chest but the dots tell me female.

now the rest of the bunch i dont really know, ill have to vent sex soon as i have heard some male crowing so they should be mature but still no eggs, and they are
Not brown type, i believe Rosetta or tibetan on some, first time i have these kind.

1, 2, 3 are male
4, 5, 6 are female
7 is male
8, 9, 11 are not feather sexable
10 has clear crescents on the face and some spots on the chest, so I'm leaning towards female, but am not 100% sure.
Awwww damn, i was hoping 7 was just a rusty chested female, way too many males i apreciate your insights, now i can start planning what to do with all these extra males, if you dont mind me asking, i know you are pretty knowledgeable on quails so i was wondering if you could tell me, what are 8,9,11?

The seller did not specify, rosetta? Tibetan?

8 looks like grau fee, 9 I'm not sure. Some kind of mix. 11 looks like a rosetta.
Grau fee! Awesome.

I forgot to post 3 more i have, that are like the grau fee but have a little white under the chest and on their necks, they actually look a lot like the grau fee pics ive seen that other people have.

quick question, would i get some tux from breeding these quails? Possibly some sparkly and pansy?

I'll try to take some pics later on and upload them.

Mine looks really close to this picture i found on the forums here, i dont know if this is considered tux.

I really want some autumn embers...
Also thanks for all your help.

You need English/dotted white for tuxedos. The white splotches seem to be fairly common on Rosettas without carrying a white gene. There is also a pied wing white that is similar to tuxedo in homozygous form but gives random white splotches in hetero.

So only way to get tux is adding whites? Well maybe down the line then. Thanks for all the help.
