Hi,
ahh! a hobbies section.... i am getting sucked in
Recently had 2 hens (BPR and RIR) killed by a coyote, and there were feathers strewn all over the yard. I collected a lot of them thinking I could make something out of it. This being the first time raising chickens, its been hard emotionally to deal with, and the feathers sat on the table for 2 weeks. It was too sad to even think about what to do. Well i was home sick this week, and wanted to put it to rest so to speak. I decided to make a "memory wreath" to hang on the wall:
It came out pretty nice I think.
For those interested (sorry i don't have work in progress pics) i got the following supplies at michaels:
6 inch grapevine wreath
multi colored eucalyptus
christmas garland with sparkly gold accents
I didn't have to glue anything, just stuck things in the openings of the grapevine wreath. Started with the eucalyptus (a plus is that it smells good too) around the edges, then cut up the garland pieces for sparkly accents. then on the inner portion, spaced out the feathers evenly. it was pretty therapeutic, cleaning off the feathers, and feeling how soft they were. we now have a nice memory token for our "Blackie" and "Red."
