"Okay," clucked Stormpaw. "Follow me." He led the other apprentice along with Eaglewing to the back of the camp. You pointed to the roosters. "Listen," he clucked. They listened to the roosters.

Burningflame clucked first. "Why have you come back. You said you never wanted to see me. I promised never to come back, yet YOU come here. Why?"

The other rooster responded. "Is it true? You knew that I loved my mate!"

He continued. "Answer me!" He was furious. "Why did you kill her?!" He tackled Burningflame, surprising the large rooster. He had him pinned. "It seems that my brother would care," he growled.

Stormpaw stared in shock.

Burningflame pushed his brother off. He stood up. "Brokenheart, I cared about YOU more than she did! I was loosing you to HER! I thought... I thought that the one that I loved would come back to me. And I was right, seeing you standing in front of me now, but, I didn't think it'd be like THIS." He sighed. "Brokenheart, listen to me. Those three little chicks that you loved so much, they weren't yours. They belonged to another rooster. That rooster treated her wrongly and... and he's sorry."

"How would you know?" clucked Brokenheart, staring at his brother.

Burningflame sighed. "Because it was me." Brokenheart shook his head. "No... It's not true," he cluckled in dismay. "She loved me!" Burningflame nodded. "She did. But she was more afraid of me." Brokenheart began to back away in terror and dismay. Burningflame continued. "When I became angry at her for leaving ME just to see you, I... I-" Tears began to roll slowly down Burningflame's eyes. It was something that no one had ever known of this rooster. "When she left me to be with you and the chicks, I killed her before she could see you again. You had left she and the chicks already and gone to be with Rainstar for a while, but she didn't care. She STILL wanted you back. She went back to the place in which she'd left the chicks and they were gone. I had gotten rid of them. All but one. I don't remember what we called that one little cockerel. Or was it our little pullet?" Burningflame had a small glimmer of happiness in his eyes. "Willowchick... Yes, I remember. The little white one. Oh, she was beautiful, just like her mother."

Brokenheart interrupted. "Where can I find her?" he clucked, racing towards his brother. "Where can I find the one memory of my mate?" Burningflame thought for a moment, then a thought flickered into his head. "She said sonething about... something about the mountains when I saw her as a chick. She always wanted to go there." Brokenheart looked down, nodding. "Fine. Goodbye Burningflame." He began to run off, into the forest, when Burningflame stopped him. "Wait." He paused for a moment. "I'm sorry." Brokenheart stared at his brother for a moment then shook his head. "I cannot forgive you," he clucked quietly, then ran off.

Burningflame stared as his brother left him... again. The words echoed in his head. "I cannot forgive you..." Burningflame looked at himself in a puddle left by the days rain. Neither can I...

(Goodnight all! Byeee!)

EagleWing stood, staring, his jaw wide open in shock. He has a sick mind, killing out of jealousy. He thought. The more he considered the situation he wondered, But how would I feel? He began to almost feel pity for Burningflame.
