Some of my maran chicks are really getting feathers on those feet!!!

I love birds with feathered feet, until I actually look at the feet. feathered legs are ok, they have a nice aesthetic, but the toes get filled with mud and actual crap...................... I know my regular chickens get dirty, but it isn't whole clods of dirt like my Brahma's nasty feathered talons

I don't like the look. I also think that it makes it harder to check the health of their feet and legs. I tolerate them on my Marans, because she's a good girl and lets me look closely, but when I have a choice, I wouldn't choose them.

Feathered legs/feet would not work well for me. I just admire them in the pictures of other people's flocks.

I love the way they look, but they make health checks difficult to the point that they're not worth it.

I like seeing feathered feet in pictures, but never wanted any in one of my flocks (too hard to check the feet and keep them clean).
