Hi all!

Our chicks are almost 3 weeks old. We received a rare/rainbow assortment so are still trying to figure out what they are. They all came clean-legged but a few, especially the ones that I originally guessed to be black splash Andalusians and another that I thought was a Delaware, have begun to sprout a small amount of feathers on their feet. Does this mean that they are actually a feathered-foot variety or is it normal for clean-legged chickens to sometimes have a small amount of fuzz on their legs? And yes, I know pics would be helpful and will try to get some later today :).

Thank you!

This probably means that they are of the feathered foot variety. None of mine developed feathers on their legs unless they were supposed to. My Light Brahma’s already had feathers on their feet at 3 days old though. Hope that helps

Feather legged breeds should have feathers on their legs when they hatch. I'm thinking it's just some fuzz. My BLRW sprouted some leg feathers on her legs at 3 weeks old. I just kinda clip them off. Will be interesting to see pics
