Feathered feet

I have noticed with my Cochin bantams that when they get dirty feet, they are nearly impossible to clean. Usually they take care of most of it by themselves. But I show them in our county fair so they usually get 1-2 baths a year. I get hot, soapy, shallow water. I use Dawn dish soap. Then I grab some treats or something to hold their attention. And I let them soak their feet. Then I do 1 of 2 things. Either take a toothbrush and scrub each individual feather or take my fingernails and scrape as much poo off as I can. No guarantee you'll get all of it.

Thanks for the advice!

Keep her on clean, dry bedding and out of the mud and she'll take care of her foot feathers herself.

Feather-footed breeds CANNOT tolerate mud and damp so good drainage in the run and plenty of clean, dry bedding/litter is the key to keeping their feet healthy.
