they were expensive right

Will they possibly grow out of them?

We had two serama chicks pop up with feathered legs a while back that we could trace back thru like 4 or 5 generations of nothing but clean legged birds. These chicks were eventually sold as pets, and they grew up with no signs of feathers on their legs.

here are some pics
I do hope they grow out of it ( it is cute though)
the one in the pics has the mostthe one in the backround does not have as much.

I would venture to *guess* that they'll eventually lose those little feather sprigs like the seramas I mentioned did. But I've never had d'anvers, so I can't say for sure - but Aubrey is good people and I'm sure he's on the up and up about what he sells.

I'm not so sure about Kathy's coronations tho. Thats a lot of feathers for a supposedly clean legged bird to hatch with, and it looks like at least one of them even has it on their middle toes? But you never know - I'd still grow them out and see what happens. Kathy, have you asked the breeder about this?

hard to tell from the pic, looks like a porcelain. I did just get a new trio in from a guy in Ohio, Think these were where they came from. Got to be, as I have never hatched a feather legged chick in 5 years from my porcelains. Will cull those out and check a batch to see.
Also think they will loose those feathers, not massive amounts like Kathy's showed, plus they obviously didnt have them on hatch day when I shipped them but who knows.
Had a feather legged crevecouer hatch this year from another guy, you never know what a breeder did to their stock til you breed the heck out of them, may only get 1 in a thousand, but eventually it'll show up.
When did you first notice it? Just curious
Will send you a refund for those 2.
Aubrey
