Feathering

My girls(Molly and Cupcake as names by my daughter) are supposed to be the same age. Molly is feathering out nicely but cupcake is a white spot where her wing feathers should be coming in. I keep waiting but no feathers. Should I be worried? They are 6 weeks old.

As long as other things appear OK, I'd not worry. There is a specific gene that deternimes how fast the feathers grow. It's used to feather sex chicks and also determines how fast a chicken goes through the molt.

I don't know what breeds those are or their genetic make-up, but I'd not worry about it.
