Full Story

Feathers floated to shore as the soft cool wind blew north. The sounds of Gentle splashing filled the summer air. The ducks were swimming along, eating and preening. A sound came from the woods, The ducks didn't mind. Until they glanced up to see a group of people, pointing and making gestures with their hands at trees and the lake. The flock swam to the shore in the weeds and tall cattails and grass. Later the humans were gone.They continued to swim out from hiding and carry on with their day.

CRASH
Beep beep beeep beep

Feathers Flew. The ducks went into the small field nearby. watching the woods. Trees fell, the ground moved slightly, leaves fell, a large yellow excavator appeared. and it knocked down trees and ran over bushes, making paths. Hours later it had gone away. It was quiet again, mostly. All of the flock was talking about what had just happened.



Summary:
There is a peaceful flock of ducks living on a small lake near the U.S. and Canadian border. For generations ducks have come and gone, and this year, maybe completely gone.The humans are coming to build property and tear down the forest to make houses.

Ranks: (ducks)

lead male
The lead male duck makes the big decsisions for the flock. He is the Lead Female's mate and is usually 3 or more years old. He has a special territory on the west of the lake and away from the normal ducks. Male and Female ducks are the highest rank (limit 1)
lead female
The lead female duck helps make the big decsissions in the flock. She is the Lead Male's mate and is usually 3 or more years old. She shares territory with the male and nests there in that territory. She is the highest rank along with Lead male (limit 1)
messenger
The messenger duck is the duck that travels from lake to lake to carry messages from the Lead Male and Female duck to other Flock leaders. He/She plays a major role in communication. (limit 2)
Normal Duck
this is a normal flock member, just a duck. they can be higher on the pecking order, or lowest.
